How coronavirus has affected my travel plans

So luckily I hadn’t actually booked any trips before coronavirus came about because I’ve been away travelling from last September up until this February. Even in my last destination on the way home, Malaysia, there were about five cases already in the country and about two in my home country, England, so it was already becoming a ‘thing’. When I got home I was already planning my 2020 getaways but I luckily hadn’t actually booked anything yet as I’d fully ran out of money. So unlike many, including my sister who’s lost a grand on holidays, I haven’t lost any money, but I am still sad my plans have had to be postponed. Here is what I planned this year…

Lake District, England

As we've just come back from exploring many exotic countries, Megan and I decided we’d like to see more of our own country in the coming years. My family holidays as a child were always abroad so there’s actually so many great places in England I’ve never seen. That’s why this June, I planned to stay in Windermere for around five nights with Megan. We were going to drive up there and walk around the beautiful countryside and stay in a nice cottage near a pub. It would’ve been a really nice active yet relaxing holiday. Oh well!

Dublin, Ireland

My group of girls have talked about a long weekend in Dublin for years but other things have always got in the way. This year we were all determined to make it happen and we still are to be honest, so hopefully it can just be a Winter thing, but depending on how long this goes on for, it might have to be next year.

Budapest, Hungary

I like to always have at least one summer holiday and one Autumn/Winter holiday each year so that I never have to go too long without a getaway (otherwise my wanderlust gets the better of me and I get cranky!) I’ve heard really good things about Budapest - apparently it’s really fun and really cheap – perfect! So me, my sister, my best friend and her sister were supposed to have a long weekend there in October time, around my birthday.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Aaand I can never go too long without a trip to one of my favourite places, Amsterdam. When booking it in advance, it can be really cheap so my friend and I were going to try and fit that in around December time when it’s all cold and Christmassy… Although it would be my fourth time there! Oops.

So they were meant to be my holiday plans for 2020! But you really can’t dwell… There are so many people suffering at the moment that at a time like this we really just have to be so thankful that we’re happy and healthy. Please subscribe if you want to see new blog posts via email!

Safe travels!

Em Wanders x
